Joint Forces Command cases its colors
The command, established in 1999 to champion getting all branches of the military to work together more closely, cased its colors at a ceremony in Suffolk, Va.

Joint warfighting will continue, Odierno says
The end of the command does not mean the end of joint operations or the emphasis on joint theory in the U.S. military.

The United States Joint Forces Command provides mission-ready joint-capable forces and supports the development and integration of joint, interagency, and multinational capabilities to meet the present and future operational needs of the joint force

USJFCOM with its component commands will respond to combatant commanders’ operational requirements by providing timely andmission-ready joint capabilities. To accomplish this USJFCOM will become a harmonized force made up of soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and civilians who excel at joint warfighting. Together with the service headquarters and our interagency and multi-national partners, USJFCOM will achieve unity of effort to maximize our joint strengths. Not only will we be instrumental in countering violent extremism, we will anticipate and prepare for the future demands of the National Defense Strategy.

Our Goals
Make Irregular Warfare A Core Competency
USJFCOM establishes irregular warfare as a core competency of our joint expeditionary and general purpose forces so they are able to operate across the entire spectrum of conflict. This ensures warfighters develop a mastery of irregular warfare equal to that of conventional and nuclear capabilities, maintaining relevance in the emerging nature of 21st century warfare.

Joint Command and Control
USJFCOM emphasizes command and control as a human endeavor by developing joint capabilities and policies that facilitate leader-centric, network-enabled initiative and decision making at the lowest echelons of command. We also ensure our C2 systems and networks are resistant and robust enough to reconstitute quickly in response to an attack.

Improve as Joint Force Provider
USJFCOM has a relevant and immediate impact on joint force operations by providing trained and ready forces to combatant commanders in support of current and global contingencies. To lay the foundation for warfighter success across the full spectrum of conflict, we provide realistic and responsive training to ensure balanced and versatile joint forces

Accelerate Efforts Toward a Whole of Government Approach
USJFCOM embraces a future where security concerns demand application of multiple facets of national power – military leaders connecting with civilian counterparts to leverage the diverse powers of government. Interagency shared situational awareness among partners is essential, and is a key component of joint experimentation projects, ensuring creation of an interagency common operational picture leading to greater future success.

Build and Improve Partnership Capacity
USJFCOM recognizes, in the emerging threat environment, our nation’s endurance will be reinforced by support from partners who share our vision and our values. Through continued engagement and collaboration, we are committed to gaining increased representation from coalition and partner militaries to grow balanced relationships based on mutual understanding, trust and a common operating picture.

Increase Emphasis on Training and Education
USJFCOM is committed to developing “cognitive warriors” who acquire knowledge, process information from multiple sources, and make timely, accurate decisions in complex, ethically challenging, and ever-changing environments. Through training exercises and other key initiatives, we will make programs more relevant preparing warfighters to meet the unique demands of current and future operational environments.
